Job Objective:
As the Head of Internal Auditor, you will report directly to the Commission’s Audit Committee. Your primary role will be to ensure the adequacy, effectiveness, and compliance of the SEC’s internal control systems. You will provide objective assurance on governance, accounting processes, and risk management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute an annual risk-based audit plan for approval by the Audit Committee.
- Implement and monitor internal audit policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Continuously evaluate and improve internal controls, policies, and processes.
- Review the reliability of financial and operational information.
- Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, laws, and regulations.
- Safeguard SEC assets and assess the efficiency of divisions, functions, and projects.
- Identify and manage organizational risks, preparing comprehensive audit reports.
- Foster seamless stakeholder relationships within the internal audit function.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Expertise in auditing techniques, accounting principles, and management practices.
- Proven experience in organizing, planning, and supervising audit functions.
- Proficiency in preparing detailed audit reports and managing teams.
- Advanced computer literacy.
Qualifications:
- Membership in a recognized professional accounting body or a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accountancy, or Management from a recognized university.
- A Master’s degree or A-class qualifications will be an added advantage.
- Minimum of 8 years of assistant managerial or executive experience in a relevant field.
- Candidates aged between 30 and 45 are preferred. The upper age limit does not apply to internal applicants or government sector candidates.
