The Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL), the apex body for the engineering profession in Sri Lanka, is seeking applications for the following positions.


1. Director – Education

Responsibilities:

  • Conducting Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programs for engineers.
  • Administering qualifying examinations for membership upgrades.
  • Evaluating engineering degree programs of educational institutions seeking IESL recognition.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or Management.
  • Membership in a relevant professional institution.
  • Proficiency in IT skills and excellent communication abilities.
  • Preference for candidates with teaching experience in a recognized university.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years post-qualification experience, including 5 years in a senior administrative role within an educational institution.

Remuneration: Negotiable.
Age: 35–55 years.
Other Benefits:

  • Payments for work on holidays.
  • Initial one-year contract, renewable based on performance.

2. Assistant Manager – Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

Age: 30–45 years.
Salary Scale:

  • Rs. 48,750 + (increments of Rs. 1,000 for 12 months and Rs. 1,200 for another 12 months)
  • Transport Allowance: Rs. 5,000
  • Cost of Living Allowance: Rs. 17,800

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.

Experience:

  • Overall 10 years of experience, with at least 3 years post-degree completion.

Other Requirements:

  • Results-oriented, dynamic individual with a willingness to learn.
  • Strong accountability, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in English and excellent computer literacy.
  • Ability to coordinate, communicate, and prepare reports.
  • Capacity to work late hours and weekends with diverse teams.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Promote, expand, and implement CPD programs recommended by the CPD committee.
  • Prepare marketing materials, flyers, and arrange program publicity.
  • Systematically monitor and ensure quality of CPD programs.
  • Study international trends in CPD for potential integration.
  • Attend CPD committee meetings, prepare minutes, and follow up on action points.
  • Manage cost proposals, budgeting, and payments for CPD resource persons.
  • Prepare reports for committees, subcommittees, and the council.
