Senior Manager – Data Protection Officer
Join our team as a Senior Manager – Data Protection Officer, where you will play a critical role in guiding the organization, assessing compliance, and developing policies to manage data protection risks effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary advisor to the data controller or processor on data protection obligations under relevant regulations.
- Ensure adherence to data protection laws, internal policies, and best practices.
- Advise on and oversee the execution of Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs).
- Develop, review, and update data protection frameworks, ensuring alignment with statutory requirements and organizational goals.
- Identify gaps in compliance and implement corrective actions.
- Monitor and evaluate risks associated with data processing, considering its nature, scope, and objectives.
- Lead the organization’s data incident response and breach notification processes.
- Act as the main point of contact for employees, regulatory bodies, and supervisory authorities on data protection issues.
- Collaborate with supervisory authorities for consultations and incident reporting.
- Design and deliver data protection training programs to foster a culture of compliance across all levels.
- Conduct periodic compliance checks and progress monitoring to ensure adherence to data protection policies.
- Establish and maintain a governance structure that ensures accountability and transparency.
- Identify and assess risks in program management and implement effective mitigation strategies.
Candidate Profile
- Hold a recognized qualification in data protection such as CDPSE (ISACA), EU-GDPR-P, or CIPP/E.
- Be an Attorney-at-Law or hold a law degree with a specialization in data protection.
- Possess at least 5 years of experience in a similar role within the banking, financial, insurance, or multinational sector.
- Demonstrate expertise in managing data breach responses, internal audits, subject access requests, and risk assessments related to data protection.
- Exhibit excellent communication and conceptual thinking abilities.
- Preferred qualifications include knowledge of analytics, IT, cybersecurity, and exposure to ISO certifications.
